Based on the film Some Like It Hot SUGAR is set in the prohibition era and chronicles the zany lives of two unemployed musicians – Joe & Jerry, who witness a gang slaying. Forced to disguise themselves as women thus introducing “Josephine” and “Daphne”, they join an all-female orchestra – Sweet Sue & Her Syncopators. They become acquainted with Sugar Kane, the band’s featured singer, who is hell-bent on finding herself a millionaire to marry, but also harbours a drinking problem! Joe falls in love with Sugar, another millionaire falls in love with “Daphne” presenting a situation with scope for many comical misunderstandings.
This show is outrageous, hilarious and at the same time, very touching.

Unemployed musician, plans to make Sugar fall in love with him. Attractive, smooth and something of an operator.
Also an unemployed musician and Joe's buddy. The comic sidekick, more of a character type than Joe. Really enjoys the disguise after a while…!
Gorgeous blonde who is the featured singer in the all-girl band and hell-bent on finding herself a millionaire however hides a drinking problem. Vulnerable, sexy, appealing, funny.
Show's manager
Gang kingpin chasing Joe & Jerry. No songs,
but
strong rhythm needed for acapella tap dances.
A millionaire who has fallen in love with "Daphne". Terrific comic role, two numbers.
Leader of the band. Tough, strong singer.
There is also a variety of smaller male & female supporting roles!
